Get to know the secrets of Houdini and the myths and reality of Houdini’s life in Appleton. Houdini claimed the city to be his birthplace, but he was actually born in 1874 in Budapest, Hungary. We will explore his brief life in Appleton by visiting where his childhood home once stood, sites of fictional magical feats, and his father’s synagogue. Explore the city that Houdini called home. Begin at the History Museum at the Castle as you explore their three levels of exhibits, then have a guided Houdini Appleton bus tour. Next, we will eat lunch and participants will have a few hours to explore the unique shops of College Avenue. Finally, we will head to the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass with the most representative collection of glass paperweights in the world with nearly 4,000 objects.
