The University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County Music Department will present the Campus Community Concert Band in a Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. May 12 at the R. G. Brown Theatre, located on campus.
The band will be conducted by Professor Emeritus Gerald L. Stich and guest conductors.
The band has 18 members who hold a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in music education who will guest conduct. Among these are Robert Spargo, a retired music teacher of 35 years, 29 of those spent at Wisconsin Dells High School; Griffin James, a band director for the Baraboo Schools band program; Jeff Virchow, a retired Methodist Pastor and former junior high school band director in Marinette and member of the United States Navy Band; Kathy Denure, a fifth- through 12th-grade instrumental music teacher at Wonewoc Center Schools for 13 years; Luther Holzel, a former middle school band director in the Chicago area; Bob Ebbers, a graduate retired band director in the Elroy School District after 34 years; Rick Meiller, a retired band director for the Baraboo School District after 35 years; Les Sandberg, who spent 33 years teaching orchestra in Wisconsin, and has played 10 years with the Madison Symphony Orchestra; Cindy Sandberg, who taught band and choir in Ashland, West Bend and Wonewoc Center; John Maier, a charter member of the Cornerstone Chorale from St. Louis as they toured the U.S.; Brad Wilson, who holds a music education degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and plays trombone and bass in several groups and works at UW-BSC.
The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors and free for children.
