Fine & Performing Arts

From art and theatre to band and choir, the arts thrive at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County. Students have many opportunities to enjoy arts, as spectators or as participants.

  • The Schwalbach Gallery is open from 10 am-5 pm, Monday through Friday, and shows include both student and professional visiting artist exhibits. All exhibits and artist receptions are free and open to the public.

  • Music at UW-BSC includes a number of opportunities that give students and community members alike the chance to perform and learn together, and from each other. Groups include choir, concert band, and jazz ensemble, with chamber music opportunities in each ensemble from semester to semester.

  • University Theatre presents one production each semester. A variety of works, including dramas, comedies, farces, and musicals, have been produced. Students and community members can audition for acting roles or volunteer for technical areas of production.
  • For 30 years, the popular Concerts on the Square series has featured live performances, from blues and jazz to acoustic, big band, classical, and more. From June-August, shows take place Thursdays at 7 pm, on the courthouse lawn in downtown Baraboo.
  • Summerset Festival of the Arts is a weekend celebration where everyone is a participant – from the artists who perform, display, demonstrate, and lead workshops to the visitors who enjoy performances, join in hands-on activities, enter contests, and learn new skills.
