Concert Band, Choir, Jazz Orchestra
The University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County offers hybrid musical ensembles, giving students and community members alike the chance to perform and learn together, and from each other. These ensembles are populated with musicians from all walks of life: students represent a wide variety of majors, and community members hail from a breadth of professions and musical backgrounds. All enjoy the challenge, camaraderie, and beauty that is making music.
The college is home to concert band, choir, and jazz ensemble, with chamber music opportunities arising in each ensemble from semester to semester.
Community members are encouraged to contact the director of the appropriate ensemble before joining - while there are NO auditions, we like to get to know who you are to let you know about our group (and to make sure there is music ready for you!). Please visit each ensemble for more information; there is no enrollment fee for community members.
Students may enroll for the course(s) to work toward "Application and Performance" requirements (3 credits required), or to help fulfill elective requirements (30 credits). Declared music majors are required to participate in a school ensemble (contact the music department chair for more information on music major requirements and for information on music scholarship awards). If a student does not want to enroll (elective requirements are filled with other courses), one can certainly join as a community member.
